Larry is a British tabby cat born around January 2007 who has served as Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office at 10 Downing Street since 2011.
He has lived and worked under six UK prime ministers from David Cameron through Keir Starmer.
Larry’s duties include greeting visitors, inspecting security, testing furniture for napping, and controlling mice, with his care funded by Downing Street staff.
Nicknamed “Lazy Larry” for his relaxed hunting style, he made his first known mouse kill in April 2011 and has occasionally outmaneuvered other Downing Street animals.
He enjoys a high public profile, often appearing in media, opinion polls, cartoons, and even has a beetle species named after him.
Larry has been honored with a blue plaque at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and remains a lasting symbol of life at Number 10 Downing Street.
