The Fed’s Chicago Money Museum shows a cube said to contain $1,000,000 in $1 bills.
The author built a web tool “Dot Counter” to count stacks in images by clicking.
Using the tool, they found the cube holds 102×8×19 stacks of 100 bills, totaling $1,550,400.
The display is off by $550,400, more than 50% extra cash.
A near-cubic $1M arrangement is possible but would alter cube dimensions noticeably.
The article explores inflation and hollow-shell scenarios affecting the cube’s true value.
