Facebook is prompting users to allow Meta AI access to private photos in their camera roll.
If users opt in, Facebook will upload photos to its servers for cloud processing to suggest AI-edited versions like collages, recaps, restylings, or themes.
By agreeing, users accept Meta’s AI Terms, permitting analysis of their media and facial features and retention of personal information to personalize AI outputs.
The feature is opt-in only, suggestions are visible only to the user, and media used for creative ideas are not used for ad targeting.
Users can disable the feature under “Camera roll sharing suggestions” in Facebook’s Settings.
Meta says the feature is a test in the U.S. and Canada and that camera roll media in this test are not used to train its AI models.
